About M. Jury Woodworks
Handcrafted furniture rooted in tradition, made for modern living.
M. Jury Woodworks is a small, independent furniture studio based in Springfield, Virginia, founded by Michael and Amanda Jury. We design and build heirloom-quality furniture that blends Shaker simplicity, Japanese precision, and Danish warmth—pieces meant to be lived with, used daily, and passed down.
We believe furniture should be honest in its construction, purposeful in its design, and enduring in both form and function. Every piece we make is built one at a time, by hand, with careful attention to proportion, joinery, and material.
Our Story
Before woodworking became our vocation, we were classically trained musicians and U.S. Army veterans. Those backgrounds continue to shape how we work today—discipline, patience, and respect for process are central to everything we make.
Woodworking offered a way to create objects with permanence and meaning. Over time, our studio grew into a place where traditional craft meets contemporary life, and where thoughtful design is valued over trends.
Design Philosophy
Our work is guided by restraint and intention. We draw inspiration from traditions that value clarity, balance, and utility—Shaker furniture for its humility, Japanese woodworking for its precision, and Scandinavian design for its warmth and livability.
We believe good design serves a clear purpose, respects the material and ages gracefully which use.
Materials & Craft
We work sustainable harvested domestic hardwoods.
Our furniture is built with time-tested joinery, clear, natural finishes and an emphasis on durability.
These choices ensure each piece will last for generations.
Made One at a Time
We are not a production shop. Each piece is designed, built, and finished start to finish in our studio. This allows us to maintain a high level of quality and to create furniture that feels personal rather than mass-produced.
Whether a commissioned piece or part of a limited series, every object that leaves our shop reflects our belief that craftsmanship matters.
Sustainability & Responsibility
We strive to work responsibly—using materials efficiently, minimizing waste, and building objects meant to last for generations rather than seasons. Creating fewer, better things is at the core of our practice.
